As they have in other municipalities under contract with OPP, policing costs are increasing dramatically in Stirling-Rawdon.
In a report to a council committee, OPP report they will be billing Stirling-Rawdon taxpayers just over $802,000 for policing in 2025.
That’s an increase of around 21 per cent from last year.
Mayor Bob Mullin says that steep of an increase will make discussions on next year’s operating budget more difficult saying it alone represents a between two and three per cent increase to the tax levy.
Quinte West and Tyendinaga Township are facing similar increases in OPP costs.
