Sentencing has been delayed for a man charged with a pair of Napanee arson incidents.
During a Friday morning hearing in a Napanee courtroom, the court heard a series of victim impact statements highlighting the damage caused to the community by the fires.
After the victim impact statements, Justice Geoffrey Griffin and the attorneys began discussing restitution as part of the sentence. Following the discussion, sentencing was postponed to November 8 to allow more material to be entered into the record.
Jay Bradley, a 49-year-old Kingston man, previously plead guilty to two counts of arson and one count of criminal harassment.
The charges stem from a pair of incidents in October 2023. Bradley plead guilty to starting the fires, the first of which consumed the Lennox Agricultural Memorial Community Centre in Napanee, and the second destroyed a garage and vehicle at the home of the Agricultural Society’s secretary-treasurer.
The incidents came after Bradley had been unable to secure a renewal on his lease at the building, where he had operated a roller skating business since 2019.
