Quinte West OPP have released the name of the accused connected to this week’s shooting in Frankford that left a woman with life-threatening injuries.
Twenty-seven-year-old Mitchell Barink of Frankford is charged with:
• Attempt to commit murder using firearm
• Discharge firearm with intent
• Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing on Monday.
Around 2 a.m. Thursday, Quinte West OPP, Quinte West Fire and Emergency Medical Services, OPP Emergency Response Team, OPP Canine Unit, Quinte West OPP Crime Unit and OPP Forensic Identification Services responded to the report of a shooting in the area of Belleville Street in Frankford.
The victim sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to a trauma centre for treatment.
Officers arrested one person a short distance away.
The investigation is continuing under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch.
