Belleville police responded to 89 calls for service over a 24-hour period from 5 a.m. on October 30, 2024 to 5 a.m. on October 31, 2024.
Impaired Driver
On October 30, 2024 at 12:19 p.m., police received a traffic complaint on Bell Boulevard. The caller to police advised that a driver appeared to be falling asleep behind the wheel. Police located the vehicle in a parking lot with the driver asleep in the driver’s seat, and the vehicle was still in drive. The driver was arrested without incident and transported to the Belleville Police Service where a Drug Recognition Expert performed an evaluation on the driver and determined him to be under the influence of drugs. Justin Hutchings, 35, of Bath, is charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle by drug and possession of a methamphetamine. Hutchings was released from custody with a court date on November 25, 2024
Theft
On October 30, 2024 at 5:17 p.m., police were called to an Old Highway 2 East address for a report of stolen vehicle. Sometime throughout the day, two dirt bikes had been stolen from a shed. The bikes are described as a blue 2000s Yamaha YZ250 2-stroke with a missing back fender and a 1996 yellow and white M85 2-stroke.
