Belleville police responded to 76 calls for service over a 24-hour period from 5 a.m. on October 22, 2024 to 5 a.m. on October 23, 2024.
On October 22, 2024 at 9:47 p.m., Belleville police were travelling on Hwy #37 near Denyes Rd in Thurlow Township when the officer observed a vehicle travelling at 171 km/h in a posted 80km/h zone. The officer stopped the vehicle without incident. As a result of the investigation, police charged 29-year-old Lucas Salazar-Urbano of Belleville with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and stunt driving. His driver’s licence was suspended and the vehicle was impounded. He was released from the scene on an undertaking with a court date in December.
On October 22, 2024 at 7:55 a.m., Belleville police responded to a business on College St. E regarding a male acting suspiciously. Police attended and identified the male. The police investigation revealed that the 31-year-old male from Kingston was wanted on an outstanding warrant held by the Kingston Police Service. The male was arrested on the strength of the warrant and turned over to the care of Kingston police for processing.
Police responded to several incidents that ended peacefully with police intervention. Those incidents included two noise complaints, three disturbances, six suspicious incidents, six traffic complaints, one neighbour dispute, one family dispute, and 22 police assistance calls. Two minor motor vehicle collisions were also referred to the Collision Reporting Center located at the Belleville Police Service.
