A Bancroft man has been sentenced to 15 years less credit for time served on counts of making and making available child pornography, invitation to sexual touching, sexual interference and breaching a s. 161 order by using the internet.
A publication ban is in effect on the man’s name as it could identify victims.
On Wednesday, Justice Geoffrey Griffin declared the man a dangerous offender and sentenced him to 15 years of jail less credit for time served followed by a long term supervision order under the Parole Board of Canada.
The man will be credited for pretrial custody of 3 years and 3 months, meaning he will serve 11 years and 9 months from sentencing.
He was also given a lifetime sexual offender registry order, a lifetime s. 161, which includes restrictions on attending parks, playgrounds, supervising children and restrictions on internet use, and a lifetime weapons prohibition order.
Justice Griffin read out a pre-sentencing report (PSR) on Wednesday.
According to the report, Ontario Provincial Police executed a search warrant on a residence back in 2022 after they were referred by authorities in the United States of a user uploading child porn to Snapchat.
During a search of the home, children’s underpants and printed photographs of nude young children were located in a cabinet in the home.
Police also found electronic devices that contained 10,291 unique images as well as 2,431 unique videos of child pornography.
According to the PSR, among the footage recovered included the man performing lewd sexual acts on young children.
All electronic devices seized were forfeited and a DNA data-banking order was made as well as part of the sentencing.
