Quinte West is seeking provincial funds to pay for repairs to the breakwater at the Trent Port Marina.
During Wednesday’s meeting of council, staff delivered a report to council regarding an opportunity to secure funding for needed repairs to the marina’s breakwater.
Staff recommended making an application to the provincial Community Sport and Recreation Infrastructure Fund. The fund was established to help support recreational infrastructure in the province and make sport more accessible.
A successful application to the project could provide up to $1 million of funding towards the $7 million total estimated cost of the project. The breakwater has failed in multiple places and requires extensive repair.
Council directed staff to submit the application. The motion was approved without debate.
