The Trenton Downtown Business Improvement Area Board of Directors is unable to operate.
The DBIA must have a minimum of five members to function, but following two recent rounds of resignations, it is down to just three.
Five board members have stepped away, including Board Chair Paulette Kinmond.
Quinte News contacted all five resigned members, however they all declined to comment. One of the former members described the atmosphere around the volunteer board as a “hostile work environment”.
Quinte West City Councillor Zack Card (appointed), along with Krystal Turcotte and Abby Hare remain, but do not have quorum to operate in the current form of the Board of Directors.
The DBIA was established in 1976 and is legislated by the Province of Ontario. The organization is appointed by the City of Quinte West.
Quinte News has contacted the City of Quinte West to see what the next steps are for operating the DBIA.
