The Rotary Club of Belleville is set to host the 15th annual Porchfest event taking place on Saturday.
Residents in the east hill neighbourhood will be performing music on their front porches while an audience travels from house to house to witness the performances.
Chair of Porchfest, Sam Brady, tells The Lorne Brooker Show that the unique music festival has seen quite a bit of growth since the beginning of the festival.
“It started with a handful of porches back in 2009 and now this year, it looks like we’re going to have 62 or maybe 63 venues throughout the old east hill neighbourhood and the downtown district, which is helping us out with providing a place for these artists to to play,” Brady tells The Lorne Brooker Show.
Brady says there will be a travelling audience to see these performances.
“You’ve got to go and sort of pick what you want to go and listen to,” Brady said.
“Some people set up shop right on their favourite lawn and listen all afternoon, whereas others will wander around and take a really sort of transient approach. So there’s something in it for everybody, family oriented and completely free. So lots of fun.”
An opening ceremony will take place at the Glanmore National Historic Site at 12:45 p.m. with the music festival itself going from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
More information about the festival as well as a map can be found at their website.
