Liberal candidate Sean Kelly appeared on the Lorne Brooker Show on CJBQ Tuesday as part of the Meet the Candidate series in advance of Thursday’s Bay of Quinte provincial by-election.
Kelly is a Belleville city counsellor and a media personality at Quinte Broadcasting as well as a former school board trustee who says he’s already knocked on more than 17,000 doors across the riding during this campaign.
Kelly says health care is the number one issue on the minds of constituents.
He adds that with with health care in this province in crisis, the Liberals will work hard to see more professionals trained and brought into the system including allowing thousands of foreign-trained doctors to work in Ontario by partnering them with doctors already working.
“The last by-election in Ottawa, Karen McCrimmon won. First time I think in 103 years that it went to the Liberals so that’s momentum. If we’re successful on Thursday, that’s momentum.”
“Accountability is important. I think you have to show up to meetings. And I find it ironic that Doug Ford’s slogan is ‘get it done.’ Well you can’t get it done if you can’t show up.”
“I apologized, you apologized to me and we move forward.”
“I’ve experience in politics, on the public health board, school board trustee. I know the value of public healthcare and education. And I want to be that voice that you know, and to work hard for you. I’m not afraid of work and I’ll always show up.”
