The Bay of Quinte saw the orange wave on Sunday.
“Hello everybody, good afternoon. I’m Marit Stiles. I’m the Leader of Ontario’s NDP.”
New Democratic Party Leader Marit Stiles spent the day in the Bay of Quinte riding, supporting by-election candidate Amanda Robertson.
Robertson celebrated her office opening on North Front Street, had a door-knocking blitz, and was part of the Quinte District Labour Council BBQ with Stiles and Ontario Federation of Labour President Laura Walton.
At her office opening Robertson spoke about the challenges in the riding and across Ontario.
“So I think we can elect a person, myself and the NDP, who can help not only bring our issues to Queen’s Park, but bring our solutions and bring action.”
Stiles says the goal of a community is to help one another. She says when neighbours cannot, it is the role of government to step in.
“Government is there for you when communities are struggling. Here in the province of Ontario, right now and over the last few decades, government has not been there for the people of this province. People are struggling to find a family doctor. Nurses are struggling, overwhelmed. Emergency rooms are closing. We are in the midst of a humanitarian crisis in our province (referring to the homelessness/opioid issues).”
