An inmate has died at Collins Bay Institution
Correctional Service Canada (CSC) says the inmate died of apparent natural causes.
The individual’s name has been anonymized to comply with a court-ordered publication ban.
At the time of death, the inmate had been serving a five-year, five-month, two-day sentence, which commenced on July 25, 2023, for print/publish child pornography, invitation to sexual touching of a person under 16 years and sexual interference of a person under 16 years.
The inmate’s next of kin have been notified.
As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, CSC will review the circumstances. CSC policy requires that the police and the coroner be notified.
