Representatives of the City of Belleville spoke with Associate Minister of Mental Health and Addictions Michael Tibollo Monday morning at the annual AMO conference in Ottawa.
Discussion included the city’s ongoing homeless and opioid crisis in the community.
“Today’s meeting was very productive,” said Mayor Neil Ellis in a press release.
“The Associate Minister is very much aware of and very supportive of our plans for a provincially-funded continuum of care model that includes a detoxification facility, among other supportive services. We were extremely encouraged with the support Mr. Tibollo voiced for our plans in this regard, as well as his in-depth understanding of our plans for The Bridge.”
The city representatives included Belleville Mayor Neil Ellis, councillors Lisa Anne Chatten, Sean Kelly and Chris Malette, CAO Matt MacDonald and other senior city staff.
The AMO conference continues through Wednesday.
