The Toronto Maple Leafs have put pen to paper with Madoc’s Ben Danford.
The three-year entry-level deal is just another feather in the cap of the former Quinte Red Devil.
He tells Quinte News he thinks about all the people who have helped him get where he is.
“My parents are the first that come to mind. They sacrificed so much for me, supported me, driven me all across Ontario, and travelled with me wherever hockey’s taken me. It’s an accomplishment for myself, but my whole family as well.”
The Oshawa Generals rear guard says it is a dream come true.
“It’s pretty crazy, it hasn’t sunk in yet. Like you just said I’ve been a Leafs fan my whole life. There’s 32 teams in the NHL, to get drafted by that one team, it’s pretty crazy.”
Danford is expected to be a cornerstone of the Oshawa General this coming season, a team that is coming off an OHL championship appearance last season.
