Belleville delegates gathered in downtown Belleville at Three Oaks Thrift Store for their grand opening at 385 Front Street.
On Tuesday, July 16, Executive Director Anu and Training and Public Education Coordinator Natalie O’Toole were joined by Belleville City Councillor Mallette on behalf of Mayor Neil Ellis, Ian Chapelle on behalf of MPP Todd Smith, Ingrid Moore on behalf of MP Ryan Williams, Shelby Kramp-Neuman MP Hastings—Lennox and Addington, Dale Hoard on behalf of the Belleville Chamber of Commerce and Downtown District BIA Executive Director Danielle Hanoman for an official ribbon cutting and grand opening ceremony.
Three Oaks Thrift was made by, and in support of, the Three Oaks Foundation which offers a network of services for women and children experiencing domestic violence including their 24/7 crisis line, emergency shelter and various outreach services.
Three Oaks Thrift is dedicated to providing affordable shopping options while fostering community engagement through volunteerism. The store aims to support the foundation’s mission by offering additional programming for women accessing the transitional support program.
“We are excited to create a community hub where meaningful conversations can take place and individuals can shop at affordable prices. We recognize that financial barriers are one of the many reasons women may stay in abusive relationships. Providing affordable options in the community is, therefore, crucial in our efforts to support and empower women to lead independent lives.” – Natalie O’Toole
Three Oaks Thrift will offer a wide range of clothing, jewellery and bags at prices accessible to everyone in the community. This initiative not only raises funds crucial for sustaining Three Oaks Foundation’s support services but also creates opportunities for women to gain valuable work experience, enhance their skill sets, reestablish their independence, and build social networks through volunteering.
Three Oaks Thrift is more than just a store. It is a place where the community can come together to support a worthy cause. By shopping or volunteering at Three Oaks Thrift, individuals can directly contribute to the foundation’s ongoing efforts to provide safety, support, and hope to women and children affected by domestic violence.
“This is such an important initiative and we at the BIA are proud to have this new store in our downtown district. It is a great addition and vital for all members of the community,” said Danielle Hanoman, Downtown District BIA Executive Director
Three Oaks Thrift will be open Tuesday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at 385 Front Street, Downtown Belleville.
