Environment Canada has now issued a special weather statement in anticipation of the remnants of Hurricane Beryl that may affect Ontario and Quebec later this week.
Heavy rainfall is expected beginning Tuesday night or Wednesday and may persist into Thursday.
The weather agency says the exact track of the weather system is uncertain at this time but that rainfall warnings may be issued as confidence in the track of the system increases.
Given the history of these types of systems, Environment Canada says localized rainfall could total well in excess of 50 mm with the potential for downpours giving rainfall rates of 20 to 40 mm per hour at times.
