It was Canada Day Monday and thousands of people were out at numerous events across the Bay of Quinte region.

Wellington, Trenton, and Belleville had the largest party’s, although there were celebrations in most every municipality.

Down at West Zwicks Park, Belleville Mayor Neil Ellis credited volunteers with putting together an outstanding event.
Audio Player“Overwhelmed by every event we have that the volunteers come out in our community. I always say volunteers put the union in community, but it’s shown here today. Events like this, it brings the goodness out in people. I run into many mayors in other cities and they don’t have the volunteer base like us.”

He attended the Canada Day Parade in Wellington.
