The Town of Greater Napanee will soon be a major hub for recycling in Ontario.
On Thursday, there was a sod turning ceremony by Waste Management on County Road 41, between Napanee and Roblin.
The company says they have commenced the construction of a state-of-the-art recycling facility, at the Napanee Waste Solutions Transfer Station.
Between the new Napanee location and a twinned site in Waterloo, Waste Management will process approximately 30-percent of Ontario’s blue box recycling.
Waste Management says the sites will increase recycling capacity, expand the list of acceptable recyclable materials, and use improved sorting practices to create better material.
It is expected the construction work will be complete by the end of 2025.
