The investigation into a shooting incident, which happened in late May in Picton, is continuing.
Members of the Prince Edward County OPP responded on May 20, 2024, shortly after 2 a.m. to a home on Union Street. One person was transported to hospital with a serious but non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
The OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit, Emergency Response Team and Canine Unit conducted an extensive search of the area but found no suspects.
Officers believe this was not a random incident and that there is no risk to the general public. Prince Edward County OPP expects to release more information soon in regard to this matter.
Investigators also want to make it clear that this incident has no connection to a June 2, 2024 firearm incident on Paul Street in Picton which involved a replica handgun. An individual was arrested and charged in that case.
Anyone with information, or who has potentially relevant doorbell or dashcam video, should call Prince Edward OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477(TIPS).
