The Belleville Christian School officially cut the ribbon at their new building during a ceremony on Friday.
While the ribbon cutting marks the official grand opening, students from kindergarten through grade 8 were already attending classes at the new school building on Wallbridge-Loyalist Road, next to Quinte Christian High School.
The new building is also energy efficient and features larger classroom spaces than the previous school.
School principal Jordan Butcher said that while their previous location had worked for 60 years, they needed a larger space to continue to teach effectively.
“There’s always a tension between, you know, what we think would be the ideal school, and then what, of course, the community can afford to build, but we really feel as though we found the sweet spot,” said Butcher. “I am especially pleased with the things that are happening, not just the construction of the building, but the things that are happening in the classroom on a day-to-day basis.”
Butcher went on to say they are expecting to have 220 to 230 students enrolled in September.
