103,000 Reasons To Smile

The team at The Learning Foundation, the Hastings Prince Edward School Board, and the Algonquin Catholic School Board were all smiles Tuesday morning.

At a wrap-up celebration at The Education Centre, it was announced the Tim Hortons Smile Cookie Campaign raised almost $103,000 Food For Learning.

Kellie Brace is the Executive Director of The Learning Foundation and says just one year ago, the foundation was facing a funding shortfall of $103,000.

“For a small organization, it was an incredible undertaking. We’ve learned about how many volunteers, how many hours, how many cramped hands. Thank you to those that decorated, TO those that purchased, share our posts on social media.”

The 13-Tim Hortons locations involved were in Belleville (owned by Mark/Mary Hanley and Jamie Smid), Stirling-Rawdon (owned by Rachana and Amit Seth), Madoc, and Marmora (both owned by Katie Moore).

Lucille Kyle is the Vice-Chair of The Learning Foundation.

“Help is on the way. Thank you very much for all that you have done and we are very excited about today (Tuesday May 28, 2024).”

The final total was $102,529.40

This year 766 volunteers, made 65,000 Tim Hortons Smile Cookies.

Food for Learning purchases $20,000 in food weekly to help feed 7,000 local students, 1.4 million meals and snacks annually.
