The City of Quinte West continues to press Via Rail to add an early morning stop at its Trenton Junction as part of Train 641 passenger service between Ottawa and Toronto.
That new service begins today (Monday) and leaves Ottawa just after 4 o’clock in the morning and ends up in Toronto at 9 o’clock in the morning, leaving Belleville at 7 o’clock.
Via has said the schedule’s timing does not allow for a stop in Trenton but before the COVID-19 pandemic the early morning train to Toronto included a stop at the Junction.
Mayor of Quinte West Jim Harrison met with Via last week and says there will be another meeting in a couple of months to analyze the train’s ridership.
However, Train 41 will leave Ottawa at 5:25 in the morning and will stop in Trenton, arriving in Toronto at 10 o’clock.
