A local athlete was honoured by Belleville City Council at its meeting on Monday.
Speed skater Kai Freeland recently won a gold, two silvers and a bronze representing Ontario at the Special Olympics Canada Winter Games in Calgary.
Mayor Neil Ellis congratulated Freeland for his accomplishment and thanked him for representing the City of Belleville with such strength and tenacity.
Freeland will also be competing in power lifting next month at the Special Olympics Spring Games in Waterloo.
