Belleville police have issued a community alert to be aware of 37-year-old David Joseph Rodgers who is now residing in the Belleville area as of March 1, 2024.
Toronto police have labelled Rodgers as a “Prolific Offender” and he is currently out on bail on charges from Toronto police for breaching his 810.1 order.
He was charged last week by the Belleville Police Service for breaching his bail conditions, and was re-released on bail.
Rodgers is a two-time federal offender and has a criminal history of sexual interference, possess child pornography, import, distribute, sell child pornography, make, print-publish child pornography.
Rodgers is on a 161 Prohibition order related to children for life.
Belleville police say they are closely monitoring him.
Rodgers was granted bail and must abide by the following conditions:
- Not to engage in any activity that involves contact with persons under the age of 16 years.
- Not to attend specific public places such as parks, daycares, playgrounds, schools or anywhere else persons under the age of 16 years will be present.
- Advise of any address change and remain at his place of residency and advise police of any changes in advance.
- Report to police regularly.
He is described as a 37-year-old white male, 6’ tall, 240 lbs, with shoulder length brown hair and blue eyes.
Police say Rodgers may pose a risk to the community, particularly children. It is advised that residents be watchful and report any suspicious people in their neighbourhoods or public places.
