It’s been years in the making and Belleville’s Consolidated Zoning By-law received final approval by council on Monday.
The by-law, which merges three previous zoning by-laws for Belleville, Thurlow and the former Sidney Township into one, was approved by Planning Committee last week.
Some of the biggest concerns during the consulting phase came from RV and boat owners who were worried the proposed changes would mean they could no longer store their vehicles on their property.
Revisions were made and though size limits were removed, there are still requirements that such vehicles must not interfere with visibility of traffic, public safety, or encroach upon any city street.
Backyard chickens will also be allowed in rural residential areas.
Several councillors thanked staff for their hard work.
