The City of Belleville has announced Matt MacDonald as new Chief Administrative Officer.
He will take over for Rod Bovay who recently announced his retirement.
MacDonald has over 25 years of experience in the municipal sector including being the City Clerk and Director of Corporate Services since 2012.
The city says MacDonald currently leads and coordinates the Corporate Services department
He also gives direction and professional advice to city council, boards and committees of council, other city departments and the public, with respect to council actions, by-laws, policies, procedures and the administration of municipal elections.
“Matt has proven to be a respected and contributing member of the city’s Executive Management Team,” said Belleville Mayor Neil Ellis in a release.
“We are very pleased that he has accepted this role and are confident that the city will continue to operate effectively through this transition with his direction. On behalf of Belleville City Council, I would like to thank Rod Bovay for his outstanding service with the city over the years, and congratulate Matt on his new role.”
MacDonald’s appointment takes effect in August.
