The Trenton Golden Hawks slipped past the Wellington Dukes 4-3 on Friday night in a double overtime finish.
David Fournier, Owen Wilson, and Thomas Kuipers scored for the Golden Hawks.
Cory Jewitt, Panayioti Efraimidis, and Connor Hunt scored for the Dukes.
The Golden Hawks opened scoring early in the first period, but were quickly answered by the Dukes before the Golden Hawks could claim a second, and take a slim lead into the second period. The Golden Hawks maintained and extended their lead in the second with a single unanswered goal, before the Dukes came back with a vengeance in the third to tie the game and bring the teams to overtime. After a first overtime frame with no scoring, the Golden Hawks found the back of the net in the second, taking the win.
The Golden Hawks are back in action today, travelling to face the Stouffville Spirit at 7:30, while the Dukes have some time off before their next game with the Aurora Tigers on Thursday.
