Six people have been charged, with police issuing arrest warrants for four of them, related to a home invasion and kidnapping investigation.
The incident happened on Sunday around 4:30 a.m. at a home on Atsia Court on Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory.
According to Ontario Provincial Police, it was reported that several people had entered the home, assaulted a man and took him away in a vehicle.
Police say the man was then assaulted again and was dropped off in another part of the community.
The victim did not suffer any life-threatening injuries.
Forty-one-year-old Blaine Branscombe of Tyendinaga Township and 33-year-old Jordan Brant of Deseronto were each charged with the following:
- Assault with a weapon – two counts
- Kidnapping – two counts
- Forcible confinement
- Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm
- Robbery with violence
- Theft under $5000
- Break and enter with intent to commit and indictable offence
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
Branscombe was additionally charged with disguise with intent.
The two accused have been remanded in custody and are scheduled to make further court appearances before the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville.
OPP and Tyendinaga Police Service are asking for the public’s help locating four others.
Arrest warrants have been issued for 37-year-old Patrick Lennox of Napanee, 42-year-old Laura Lee Leween of Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory, and 36-year-old Ashley Cummings of Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory.
Each have warrants for arrest on the following charges:
- Assault with a weapon – two counts
- Kidnapping – two counts
- Forcible confinement
- Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm
- Robbery with violence
- Theft under $5000
- Break and enter with intent to commit and indictable offence
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Disguise with intent
An arrest warrant has also been issued for 44-year-old Jamie Kunkel of Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory.
Kunkel is wanted on the following charges:
- Assault with a weapon – two counts
- Robbery with violence
- Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm
- Kidnapping – two counts
- Forcible confinement
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Theft under $5000
