Violent crimes were up, while break and enters were down in Quinte West last year.
In its 2023 annual report Quinte West OPP say there was a total of 510 violent crimes
last year, up from 458 in 2022.
Crimes considered violent include assault, sexual assault, and robbery.
There were no murders or attempted murders in Quinte West last year, however, the number of
assault charges went up considerably.
Meanwhile, the number of break and enter charges went down by over 30 per cent last year from
97 in 2022 to 67 last year.
The clearance rate for all crimes in Quinte West went up slightly to 44.6 per cent in 2023 from 42.2 per cent in 2022.
