The Belleville Sens’ seven-game win streak came crashing down on Friday night in Toronto as the host Marlies dismantled the Sens 8-0.
The teams shared a scoreless first period, before the Marlies opened scoring with three goals in the second, and another five in the third, all while keeping the Senators from scoring any goals at all.
The Senators set a new franchise record for penalty minutes throughout the game, with 101 minutes on 22 infractions.
Belleville Sens Head Coach Dave Bell wasn’t happy to see the win streak end.
“You don’t ignore it, but you go back and make sure you remember how you won seven in a row. If you lose 2-1, or 8-0 it’s still a loss. So, we turn the page, get better tomorrow and look forward to Sunday.”
The Sens are back in action on Sunday afternoon, hosting the Toronto Marlies at CAA Arena.
