Belleville City Council has approved a new Multi-Year Accessibility Plan for Belleville Transit.
Covering 2023 to 2027, the plan, also referred to as TMAP, is a requirement of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act and outlines the city’s strategy to identify, remove, and prevent barriers to accessibility.
Chair of the Belleville Accessibility Advisory Committee (BAAC), Councillor Barb Enright Miller says the new TMAP builds off the successes from the three previous plans.
“The BAAC has been and is committed to working with Belleville Transit Services to continue to address barriers that people with disabilities experience using conventional and specialized transit.”
Public input was taken into consideration during the plan’s development.
TMAP includes four key sections – driver training, conventional transit, specialized transit, and accessible taxis.
