Trenton Care and Share Food Bank is going home the big winner from the Tim Hortons Holiday Smile Cookie Campaign.
On Tuesday afternoon at the downtown Trenton Tim Hortons, local owners Jamie Smid and Josephine Robertson presented a cheque for $13,469.85.
Owner Josephine Robertson:
“I know everybody is struggling this year for the prices of groceries and so we thought this would be a good way to help the community.”
As people who purchase food products, Robertson says she and Smid know first hand the increase in prices in the last 12 months.
“Things have increased crazy this year. I understand how people feel and how difficult it’s going to be for everybody. I’m hoping this does help.”
She says they are humbled to be able to give back.
“It’s wonderful to give back to the community. I just think it’s great. Warm food in their bellies over the holidays.”
Jen Koornneef is a Manager at the Trenton Care and Share Food Bank.
“Thank you to local Tim Hortons owners and staff for supporting the Trenton Care and Share Food Bank through the Holiday Smile Cookie Campaign. Thanks also to the over 50 volunteers who decorated cookies for the campaign. We will put this donation to good use – stocking our shelves with healthy food for neighbours experiencing food insecurity in our community. We appreciate how our community of Quinte West has really come together to support the food bank during this holiday season. Thank you. Please continue to care and share.”
