Team Canada East is facing down Team Canada West today in the World Junior Hockey championships.
This year’s Team Canada East is an all-star cast, including some local players.
Belleville’s Trevor Hoskin, who plays for the Cobourg Cougars, is one of those all-stars. In the semifinal game, he led the team with two goals and three assists and is the current leader in the tournament for points with 11.
Trenton Golden Hawk forward Taeo Artichuk was also named to the team. Golden Hawks Head Coach Derek Smith, also from Belleville, is serving as assistant coach for Team Canada East.
Having defeated Sweden in the semifinals, the team is now up against Team Canada West, who triumphed over the United States to earn their shot at the gold.
