The St. John Ambulance Therapy Dog Quinte Branch has received a major donation of $10,000 from a local student.
Nolan Phillips donated the money he received through the ALVA Foundation’s Family Grant Challenge.
He chose to donate to the therapy dog program, after hearing about the benefits of therapy dogs from his older brother, who had therapy dogs visit his school. Philips liked the idea, and wanted to see the program expanded.
The St John Ambulance therapy dog program is a volunteer program that brings comfort, joy and companionship to members of the community who are sick, lonely, reside in long-term care and mental health facilities; are in hospitals, schools and library settings.
