Peterborough County OPP have arrested three people in connection with what they are calling a theft spree spanning several jurisdictions including Belleville.
Three snow blowers worth $7,000 were taken from a Selwyn Township business on the night of November 30.
On December 4, a business owner on County Road 45 in Asphodel-Norwood Township reported that a fully enclosed trailer worth $15,000 had been taken.
Police arrested 53-year-old Jamie Jones of Asphodel-Norwood Township and 49-year-old Paul Sladeczek of Trent Hills in connection with the snow blower thefts on December 5.
Jones is charged with:
- Break, Enter a place – commit indictable offence
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000
- Fail to comply with Probation Order
- Possession of Break In Instruments
Sladeczek faces the following charges:
- Break, Enter a place – commit indictable offence
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000
- Fail to comply with Probation Order – two counts
- Possession of Break In Instruments
On December 6 OPP executed a search warrant at a Trent Hills property locating approximately $50,000 worth of stolen items including the trailer.
Lisa Evegroen, 45, of Havelock-Belmont-Methuen was arrested on a charge of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000.
Police say the recovered items were taken in thefts that occurred in Belleville, Peterborough, Kingston, Cobourg, Newmarket and Ottawa.
Officers are continuing to ensure that items recovered are returned to the rightful owners throughout the above-mentioned jurisdictions.
