The Salvation Army is just about halfway through their Annual Christmas Kettle Campaign “Hope Beyond Christmas” as they aim to raise $365,000 to support local families in need throughout the year. While incredible support has been felt thus far from the community, as many have been giving at the red kettle and through mailing in their donations, volunteers are needed to keep the kettles open.
The traditional Salvation Army Red Kettle is set up in 14 locations throughout the City of Belleville, but unless volunteers are standing with the kettle, they cannot be open to receive donations. Amanda Robinson, The Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Coordinator says, “We have been able to fill about 50% of our volunteer shifts, which means that several of our locations have remained closed completely or have had to close early in the day.”
With three weeks left in the campaign, there is still plenty of time to volunteer. Volunteer shifts are just two hours in length and signing up is easy.
