Lesley Lavender, CEO of the Prince Edward County Chamber of Commerce, addressed council members during Thursday’s Committee of the Whole meeting.
During her presentation, she summarized some of the chamber’s past and current initiatives to help the local business community, including networking events and sharing resources to help local businesses thrive.
Lavender also urged council to make decisions that would result in a good environment for business, saying that business will move and grow elsewhere if there’s not enough support for them here.
“Why should businesses stay in the county if there’s insufficient internet, no gas or transportation solutions? No water, no housing for workers? It’s not always the cheapest deal that is the winner,” said Lavender.
Councillors accepted the deputation, but took no action at this time.
