A Tweed theatre company is receiving money from the province’s Rural Economic Development, or RED program, to rebuild after last year’s tornado.
Hastings – Lennox & Addington MPP Ric Bresee announced Friday that Tweed & Co. Theatre will receive $66,432 for the rehabilitation of its home, the Marble Arts Centre in Actinolite.
The July 2022 tornado caused significant damage to the former church which has been a cultural hub for more than a decade.
“It’s wonderful to see this rehabilitation work for Tweed and Company’s Marble Arts Theatre, as they offer access to original Canadian theatre across Hastings – Lennox & Addington,” said MPP Ric Bresee. “I am so delighted to see the Ontario government supporting the performing arts.”
RED supports projects that diversify rural economies, retain skilled workers, and create jobs in local communities.
