Friday morning was the official opening of another business under the major Homestead Marketplace umbrella.
Owners Mike and Nickey Eden unveiled the relocated and renamed Six Douglas Tire and Battery. It was formerly Battery Outlet and brings tires into the equation.
Also under the same roof at Homestead is The Factory Store, and Custom Carts, which was formerly on Gotha Street in Trenton, adjacent to Battery Outlet.
Mike Eden tells Quinte News that Six Douglas Tire and Battery is another part of what will become a major commercial/tourist development over time.
“A month from now we’re looking at Beaver Tails which everyone is super excited about getting that added in then, of course we get to spring with the Homestead Adventure Park, Wheels and Waves, Shoeless Joe’s and so on and so on.”
Eden says when finished, Homestead Marketplace is going to be a major addition to the Quinte region economic landscape.
“In the end we expect there to be 200 to 250 employees, good paying jobs. I mean these are executive and director type roles here and it’s all
on one site. It’s just great and everyone’s going to be able to just come and take advantage of the businesses that are coming. But also the events, and we haven’t even really talked a whole lot about the events, but the events are probably going to be what’s the most exciting for the community and that information will roll out over the next few months.”
Eggsmart opened its doors weeks ago and was the first grand opening under the Homestead Marketplace umbrella.
An outdoors high ropes course, high-end mini putt golf course, numerous restaurants and more businesses will be announced in the coming days.
