The County Stage Company has announced that Artistic Director Graham Abbey has decided to leave his position at the end of the 2023 season.
Abbey entered the role in 2016.
During his time as Artistic Director, Abbey attracted new talent to join the company’s performers, and also secured a new studio theatre on Wellington Main Street in 2019.
“I firmly believe that theatre companies thrive best when the torch of creativity is passed on regularly, so that a new generation of artists and leaders can take the company to even greater heights,” said Abbey in a media release. “So it with extreme gratitude for the past and unbridled excitement for the future that I look forward to helping the new leadership team take over the reigns and carry this company body into the future.”
The board of directors will begin the hunt for Abbey’s replacement this month.
