An overnight shooting that took place in Belleville is now being investigated as a homicide.
Belleville police say in a release that they responded to a shooting incident on Ridley Street around 3:20 a.m. Monday morning.
When police arrived, they located a deceased man who had been shot.
The deceased male remains unidentified at this time.
The Belleville Police Forensic Identification Unit is continuing to process the scene for evidence.
Members of the Belleville Police Criminal Investigations Division are in the process of attempting to identify the deceased as they take over the investigation.
There have been no arrests.
Police believe the shooting was an isolated incident and that there is no threat to public safety.
