Belleville police responded to 228 calls for service between 5 a.m. on September 15, 2023 and 5 a.m. on September 18, 2023.
Motor Vehicle Collision involving School Bus
On September 15, 2023 at 7:45 a.m., officers were called to Old Highway 2 near Mitchell Road regarding a pickup truck which had struck a school bus. The school bus had children on board but thankfully, no one was injured. Police attended the scene and charged the driver of the truck, a 41-year-old male from Tynedinaga Township with following too closely.
Motor Vehicle Collision involving Impaired Driver
On September 15, 2023 at 2 p.m., police were called to a business parking lot on Millennium Parkway where it was reported two vehicles had collided. No injuries were reported. Police conducted an investigation which led to the arrest of 43-year-old Melissa Sinclair of Belleville for impaired driving. She was released on an undertaking with a court date in October 2023.
Driver and Passenger – Arrested
On September 16, 2023 at 7 p.m., an officer on patrol observed a vehicle driving on North Front Street being operated by a male known to be prohibited from driving. Police conducted a traffic stop and arrested the driver for driving while prohibited. Further investigation revealed that one of the passengers was currently breaching conditions of their parole. James Doney, 40 years old of Belleville was charged with driving while prohibited and issued a court date in October 2023. Allan Laidley, 40 years old of Belleville was remanded into custody for his parole violation.
