Quinte West OPP are once again warning people against drunk driving after laying charges in three impaired driving investigations over the weekend.
Around 9 p.m. on Friday, officers conducted a traffic stop on Campbell Street, Quinte West, after observing a traffic violation.
An investigation led to the driver being arrested.
Suspected drugs and a firearm were also located.
Richard Gourlie, 40 years old from Belleville, has been charged with the following offences:
Operation while impaired – alcohol or drugs
Operation while prohibited
Possession of a schedule 1 substance – Methamphetamine
Possession of schedule 1 substance – Opioid
Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order
Fail to comply with probation order
Saturday morning at approximately 3 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on Old Highway 2 resulting in the arrest of the driver.
Twenty-nine-year-old Meaghan Shipman of Belleville, has been charged with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).
The last arrest happened around 1 a.m. on Sunday when officers conducted a traffic stop on Bridge Street, Quinte West.
Caleb Walsh, 20 years old from Quinte West, has been charged with the following offences:
Operation while impaired – alcohol
Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
Gourlie was held in custody pending a bail hearing while the other two accused were released from custody and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on a future court date.
Additionally, their vehicles were impounded for seven days, and licences were suspended for 90 days.
