Members of the Prince Edward County OPP investigated more impaired-related occurrences over the week.
On Wednesday August 16 just before 7 a.m., officers received a report of a collision on Lake Street in Picton. Officers spoke to the driver and an approved screening device was administered. As a result, James Munday, age 69 from Prince Edward County, was arrested and transported to detachment for further testing. The driver was charged with the following offences:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Dangerous operation
The driver was released from custody and is to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on September 20, 2023. The driver also had their vehicle impounded for seven days and licence suspended for 90 days.
On Saturday August 19 shortly after 7 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on Highway 62. After speaking with the driver an approved screening device was administered. As a result, Luis Miranda Cotom, age 29 from Belleville was charged with the following offences:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Speeding
The driver was released from custody and is to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on September 13, 2023. The driver also had their vehicle impounded for seven days and licence suspended for 90 days.
On Sunday August 20 shortly after 2:30 a.m., officers received a report of a single motor vehicle collision on McFarland Court in Picton. Officers arrived on scene and spoke with the driver. Subsequent investigation led to the administration of an approved screening device. Adam Lasher, age 29 from Napanee, was arrested and transported to detachment for further testing. The driver was charged with the following offences:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Careless driving
The driver was released from custody and is to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on September 27, 2023. The driver also had their vehicle impounded for seven days and licence suspended for 90 days.
