Chief Warrant Officer (CWO) Daniel Lapierre was appointed Squadron CWO of 8 Operations Support Squadron (8 OSS), taking on the role from CWO Susana Keyes, during a change of appointment ceremony held at 8 Wing Trenton on Friday, July 21.
Born in Montreal, Quebec, CWO Lapierre joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 1990 as an infanteer. After four years in the Regular Force, he spent seven years in the Supplementary Reserve Force. CWO Lapierre then re-enrolled in the Regular Force in May 2001 as an Aerospace Telecommunication and Information Systems Technician.
After completing his trade training at Canadian Forces School of Communications and Electronics in Kingston, CWO Lapierre was posted to Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Esquimalt. Here was deployed as part of OP DANACA in the Golan Heights in 2005. In 2007, after receiving his appointment to Master Corporal, he was posted to CFB Bagotville followed by a three-year posting to CFB Shearwater. CWO Lapierre returned to CFB Bagotville in 2013 with his promotion to the rank of Warrant Officer. Belonging to the Air Expeditionary Training Squadron at 2 Wing, he deployed to Romania in 2014 as part of OP REASSURANCE.
Posted to Ottawa in 2016, CWO Lapierre worked in multiple positions and had the privilege of doing a Technical Assistance Visit in Kuwait during OP IMPACT. He also received his promotion to Master Warrant Officer during this time. He was then selected for a posting to France in 2019, which included participating in a variety of NATO exercises as well as being part of the high-readiness NATO Reaction Force for the year 2022.
CWO Lapierre was promoted to his current rank in June 2023.
