Belleville police responded to 249 calls for service from July 14, 2023 at 5 a.m. to July 17, 2023 at 5 a.m.
Assault
On July 14, 2023 at approximately 2:30 p.m., police responded to a 911 call regarding a domestic incident in the east end of the city. Police attended and located a female with facial injuries. As a result of the investigation, a 33-year-old male of Belleville was arrested and charged with one count of assault. He was later released with an August court date. The name of the male is not being released to protect the identity of the female.
Traffic Stop Results in Arrest and Charges for Fail to Comply/Breach of Release Order
On July 15, 2023 in the early morning hours, a police officer on patrol observed a vehicle with the wrong plates attached and a traffic stop was initiated. While speaking with the driver, police observed a male known to them in the passenger seat of the vehicle who was on conditions involving a curfew. As a result, a 32-year-old male from Trenton was arrested and charged with fail to comply – failing to appear in court, and was held for a bail hearing. The driver of the vehicle was also charged with plates unauthorized and operating a motor vehicle without Insurance.
Fail to Comply/Breach of Release Order
On July 16, 2023 at approximately 1:30 p.m., police received a call from a victim of a domestic assault stating that her ex-husband was breaching his conditions of release from a previous domestic assault by attempting to communicate with her. As a result of further investigation, a 45-year-old male of Belleville was arrested and charged with fail to comply and was held for a bail hearing on July 17, 2023.
