The number of building permits issued in Quinte West in June was down, however, the construction value was up.
The municipality granted 69 permits last month down just slightly from the 76 issued in June of 2022.
However, the construction value was $13.6 million, well above last year’s $5 million.
A $5 million permit was issued for commercial construction on Highway 2 near Walmart.
Permits were also taken out for construction on 11 new detached or semi-detached homes as well as two apartment units.
It’s a similar picture as far as year-to-date construction – permits are down; 316 compared to 390 last year but construction value is up from $73.1 million over the first six months of 2022 to $86.8 million through the end of June of this year.
