The Trenton Military Family Resource Centre (MFRC), in partnership with the O’Quinn Team, held a media event on Monday, June 26, to announce the winning recipient of the Homefront Heroes Scholarship, Hailey Hancock.
Hailey received $2,000 to go toward her first year of post-secondary education. The scholarship was initially announced at the Trenton
MFRC’s 16th Annual Invisible Ribbon Gala on May 13, 2023 by Lorraine O’Quinn.
The submissions received were impressive enough that the selection committee decided to add
two honourable mention awards of $500 each. Elanie Diotte and Colton Cooper each received
$500 toward their first year of post-secondary education.
The event highlighted military-connected teens, celebrated the best of military families, and
helped shine a light on the positive aspects of a military lifestyle.
The scholarship aimed to find a recipient who demonstrates the philosophy Be Kind, Be Bold,
Be Brave. The selection committee looked for individuals who step outside their comfort
zone in creative ways to make a positive impact, whether it’s initiating inclusion, creating
connection, being a leader, being charitable, or standing up for good.
