It’s a new era of Wellington Dukes hockey.
The franchise has announced that it has hired Kent Lewis as its new head coach and Director of Hockey Operations.
Lewis has spent more than 20 years behind the bench for multiple teams in the British Columbia Hockey League including with the Powell River Paper Kings/Kings, the Nanaimo Clippers and Victoria Salsa (now Grizzlies) from 1990 to 2018.
“I look forward to overseeing and working with everyone in the Dukes program to give its fans and community something it can be proud of,” Lewis said in a release.
Lewis takes over for Derek Smith who resigned from his position earlier this month.
More of the coaching, training and scouting staff is expected to be announced in the coming days.
A prospects camp is expected to take place in July with more information expected to come to the Dukes website.
