Thirty-nine local organizations will receive funding and in-kind support in 2023 through Prince Edward County’s Municipal Community Grant Program.
The County Foundation oversees the grant program which supports not-for-profit and community-based organizations to implement activities and initiatives in areas such as arts, culture, heritage, recreation, environment, health and human services.
Dominique Jones, Executive Director of The County Foundation, says, “Facing several difficult decisions, the adjudication committee that reviews the applications focused on community impact, financial need, inclusivity and geographic equity. We look forward to seeing the impact of these projects.”
“Recipients work hard to create meaningful events, programs and projects for the enjoyment and betterment of the community as a whole, ” Mayor Steve Ferguson says. “I am encouraged to see the variety of programs that were funded in 2023 and look forward to seeing the results in the community.”
This year, municipal staff and The County Foundation will review the grant program and policy to ensure it reflects the new strategic priorities of this term of Council as well as findings from key community studies, including Thrive, Vital Signs, the 10-Year Community Plan, and more.
Targeted consultation to previous grant applicants and the not-for-profit sector will inform program and policy changes as well as the technical aspects of the program.
Recommendations from the review will be brought back to Council for consideration in the Fall 2023, to allow for time to implement any changes prior to launching the program in 2024.
